Get a Tax Deduction – Donate Used Clothes & Household Items in Atlanta, Chamblee, Norcross & Beyond
American Kidney Services (AKS) makes it easy to claim a tax deduction* when you donate to our charity. Since we are a federally approved, nonprofit organization, all contributions that you make in the form of used clothing and household items are tax deductible.* Simply use our online valuation form to determine the approximate value of your donated items and list them on your tax form.
One reason that AKS stands out from all the best charities in Atlanta is that we offer a convenient, complimentary donation pick up service for our donors, in addition to a variety of donation drop off locations, including the 24/7 AKS storefront donation center in Atlanta, donation drop boxes, and Value Village locations. No matter how or where you donate to AKS, we’ll be sure to provide you with a tax receipt.
Below are a few tips to help make sure you accurately inventory your contributions to AKS so that the tax deduction* process will be stress-free when you donate:
- Make a list of each item that you wish to donate, whether it’s clothing, electronics, small furniture, small appliances, or other household items.
- On your inventory list, make a note of each item’s condition. You may even want to take photos of each item so that you can keep them for future documentation.
- Note any special features of each item that would increase its value, such as a particular brand name if it is from a high-end manufacturer or designer, or its approximate age/history if it is an antique.
- If you still have the original sales receipts from any of these items that you’re donating, make photocopies of the receipts or scan them to your computer so that you always have proof of the item’s original value.
If you have used clothing or household items that you would like to donate to AKS, simply call 770-609-2200 or fill out our online form to add your name to our regular donation call list. We will contact you when we are scheduling donation pickups in your area.
