Make a Donation to Our Non Profit Organization in Atlanta and Help Kidney Disease Patients throughout America

donation_to_nonprofitWhen you donate used clothing and household items to American Kidney Services (AKS), your donation to our non profit organization helps us fight the battle against kidney disease. Chronic kidney disease has become a national epidemic that affects nearly 26 million people, a number that increases exponentially when we consider all the friends and family members that have lost loved ones to this illness.

In general, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is more prevalent among women than men. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that in 2010 more than 35 percent of diabetic people over the age of 20 have CKD, while 20 percent of hypertension patients have CKD. In addition to diabetes and hypertension, CKD can also be caused by elevated cholesterol levels, obesity, or a genetic predisposition. CKD can lead to:

  • Kidney failure
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Anemia
  • Bone disease

There are a variety of ways that you can help spread awareness about CKD. Encourage anyone who may be at risk to undergo a blood pressure screening, a urine test, and blood test to check for kidney function. Donate to local charities like AKS, which works with the American Kidney Fund to provide direct financial assistance to kidney patients and sustain kidney disease education and prevention efforts.
